Alan Greig Dance Theatre/Grant Smeaton with Catalyst Dance Management
8th February-7th March National Tour "This affectionate, informative dance-theatre piece...evokes the exhilarating vortex of New Wave art forms and the shockwaves that hit the hedonistic New York gay scene when Aids came on the scene" ★★★★ (The Herald) "A show of extraordinary, troubling vividness" ★★★★ (The Scotsman) Using four male performers – from both dance and theatre backgrounds, the production looks at the life and times of Klaus Nomi and his rise to fame and notoriety during a very influential period of pop culture in the late 70s and early 80s. The production is the story of one man’s struggle to express himself through his unique singing talent fused with his desire to hide behind a theatrical mask. It is also the story of a western world on the brink of change and a gay culture which would be transformed forever with the onset of the then new and much misunderstood AIDS virus. Martin provided the text for the piece which was drawn from existing interviews with Nomi and his peers, and performed verbatim.
